Mommy Talks.

Thanks Ann for this.

Let’s talk about mommy stuff:

1. What food did you crave when you were pregnant?
I didn’t have a craving. I just had melon shake almost everyday, not because I was craving for it, but because it was the only drink that wouldn’t make me throw up.

2. Did you gain a lot of weight when you were pregnant?
Nope. I gained around 30 lbs when I was pregnant. And it stayed up to this day. Hahahaha!

3. Did you drink milk when you were pregnant?
Nope. I just took calcium tablets.

4. How long did you stay in the labor room before your delivery?
I was induced for a day and a half.

5. Did you have epidural during labor?
I wish I had. When my cervix was around 4 cm, I asked for the epidural already. But my OB wanted us to wait till 5-7 cm. We didn’t get there. I asked for a CS na. Ha, I was his only patient who willingly wanted a CS during labor. Of course, my OB didn’t comply to my request. It is against the policy to perform a CS right there and then just because the patient wanted to.

6. How did you give birth?
Via cesarian section. The little boy’s heart rate was dropping below 120 which was not good. I have a birthing story here.

7. What was your first reaction when you heard your baby’s cry and saw him/her for the first time?
It was mixed emotions but mostly relieved that he finally came out and he is healthy. My first thought I think was we have to have our picture taken. Hahaha. Adik sa picture. When I was wheeled in to the operating room, I was looking for the husband, not for support, but because he needed to take pictures.

8. Prior to that moment when you first held your baby, did you know how to carry a newborn?
No. I was scared to carry little babies as I was afraid that they might fall or I might hurt them.

9. Did you take a bath after your delivery?
I had a bath when my catheter and dextrose were removed.

10. How was your first night with your baby like?
I was scared and worried. Tarantang-tao. Everytime he cried, I was always in a hurry either to change his diaper or to give him his milk. Good thing the husband was calmer and more relaxed. The baby daw can sense the parents’ feelings so it was nice to have a more composed parent. I wasn’t able to sleep much because I was watching him, checking if he’s still breathing (praning!) and to shoo off mosquitoes.

11. Did you breastfeed your baby?
Yes. Mixed feeding though.

12. If you were to pick just one moment from the time you gave birth until the moment you were discharged from the hospital, which do you think is the most special moment for you?
When he came out. Finally!

Now, I’m tagging these fellow mommies to try this: Joy, Jen, Peachy and Thea.
